Canada's #1 Project Management Certificate
Offered by One of the Top Business Schools Globally!
Edmonton and Calgary - Two Completion Options - Full Semester or Self-Paced
"In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is." - Yogi Berra
The Masters Certificate in Project Management was created in order to provide a fast-track, in-depth approach to the delivery of project management training that is Canadian in its roots as well as in its location and, very importantly, that recognizes the shortage of time with which most project managers are faced.
We recognize you have many choices when it comes to Project Management courses. Our program was developed around the Project Management Institute's Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®) and covers all nine project management knowledge areas that are tested in the PMP certification exam. What sets our certificate apart, however, is that it takes the PMBoK theory and translates it into effective practice. We reinforce learning via professional networking with your fellow students (a cohort which you'll get to know very well over the semester), exposure to 7-9 different subject matter expert facilitators, ongoing group exercises, and, very importantly, a simulation which is introduced on Day 1 of the program and which culminates in a fast-paced project execution during the final module.
While the Certificate is considered by most in the profession of project management as one step before the PMP Certification process, it will first and foremost help you become an excellent project manager by supplying you with the knowledge, tools, templates and skills to ‘raise the bar' in your everyday handling of projects. Phrased simply, the program enables you to consistently deliver projects on time, on budget, within scope and beyond expectations.
Two learning options are available for program completion:
- The single semester program - our most popular choice - runs 18 days over four to five months, usually in 2 day modules every second week, and typically on alternating Friday/Saturday or Sunday/Monday sessions. This balanced approach draws partly upon a commitment of professional time and partly on a commitment of personal time, in order to accommodate the busy professional schedules of project managers.
- The self-paced certification enable participants to attend courses one at a time, and to complete a flexible certification process over a period of up to 3 years.
For more information on each of these option, and to choose the one best for you, please see our information page on Certification Options.
Each course session covers the fundamentals of project management - the foundation knowledge areas required by all project managers. These areas are not industry specific and in fact the exercises and our participants come from many different industries - construction, IT, engineering, human resources and more.
The program is delivered by a series of professional project management trainers. These people are independent trainers who have experience not only as facilitators but as project managers as well. Most are certified Project Management Professionals (PMPs) by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
